Christ Church Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI) Information
(Christ Church, Barbados, BB)
The modernised Christ Church Grantley Adams International Airport is the gateway to the beautiful island of Barbados. It receives a surprising amount of traffic, including from distant cities such as
London,
Manchester,
Vienna,
New York and
Toronto. The airport lies about 30 minutes by taxi from the capital city,
Bridgetown.
Seawell Airport was the name of the original air facility, with KLM being the first commercial airline to land at Seawell in 1939. A new terminal today has revitalised the airy airport, which has good facilities including shops and eateries. There is even a museum nearby, complete with a British Airways Concorde.
Departures and Arrivals are split into two separate halls. Prominent airlines serving the Christ Church Grantley Adams Airport include British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and American Airlines, along with regional carriers Caribbean Airlines and Air Jamaica.
